Ben Cattau
FOUNDER & PRIMARY TUTOR
Benjamin Cattau was born on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and raised in Larchmont, New York. Homeschooled from kindergarten through eighth grade, he was a self-directed and accelerated learner whose early independence shaped his lifelong appreciation for education. Ben attended Mamaroneck High School in Mamaroneck, New York. Throughout his school years, he played violin, soccer, and fenced in high school and college. He also sailed on the Long Island Sound, worked in a rock-climbing gym and a French bakery, and founded a longboard club during undergrad.
Benjamin graduated from Haverford College in 2017 with a major in Biology and a minor in Philosophy. He completed the University of Pennsylvania’s Post-Baccalaureate program while working as a test prep tutor, lab manager, and research specialist in two Genetics labs at Penn: the Vahedi Lab (Immunology & Genetics) and the Faryabi Lab (Cancer Genetics). His research contributed to publications in Immunity and PNAS, and his experiences as both a collaborator and student showed him firsthand the transformative power of education.
After eight years of tutoring students from elementary school through graduate school, Benjamin founded Booc Co. LLC (DBA Best Choice Test Prep / BooC Tutors) in 2020 to provide holistic, personalized academic support full-time. As a test-prep specialist, he helps students excel on exams such as the ISEE, SAT, and ACT, and he guides families through the entire college admissions process. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admissions Counseling.
Today, Benjamin lives in Jupiter, Florida with his wife, Alexandra Cattau, and their small dog. When he’s not working with students, he can often be found with them on the beach or paddleboarding on the intracoastal.
His scores include: Old SAT 2270; Biology SAT (M) 770; U.S. History SAT 800; AP U.S. History, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and Physics C: Mechanics - All 5’s -

Alexandra Cattau, LCSW, MSW
TEST PERFORMANCE SPECIALIST
Alexandra Cattau is a licensed clinical social worker, psychotherapist, nationally board-certified clinical hypnotherapist, and Test Performance Specialist with Best Choice Test Prep. She supports students with test performance and the mental tools needed to perform in high-pressure academic and athletic situations.
Through her therapy practice, Alexandra has worked with students and families navigating the sensitive transition from high school, through applications, and into college. She understands how much this stage can shape a student’s confidence, identity, career path, relationships, and future network, and she has successfully helped students advocate for needed support, including helping clients get Bright Futures scholarships reinstated. Alexandra’s background with testing includes her work at Penn’s Office of Disability Services through the Weingarten Learning Resources Center where she provided students with their accommodations and served all 16 schools at Penn while upholding Penn’s honor code.
Raised on the Main Line of Philadelphia and spending summers in Avalon, NJ, Alexandra earned her undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College before her graduate study at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her Master of Social Work from Penn’s School of Social Policy and Practice, studied Nonprofit Administration at Penn’s Fels Institute of Government, and completed the SP2-Wharton Professional Certificate in Organizational Leadership in Social Work.
Alexandra’s clinical training at Penn included medical and community-based settings at a hemodialysis clinic, Resources for Human Development: Lower Merion Counseling and Mobile Services, and Brith Shalom. Alexandra served as the ADHD Consultant on Netflix’s Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo, was voted Netflix’s Employee of the Season for her work on Queer Eye and Karamo Brown’s Culture segment, and has supported retreat and hypnosis-based work for Harvard’s first meditation advisor. Alexandra worked at a mental health collaborative practice in South Florida as the primary therapist and clinical office manager onboarding new therapists and serving clients and families. Alexandra currently serves as a board member on her family’s foundation, The Evans Foundation, which focuses on education including libraries, schools, and children services.
Alexandra is especially passionate about the boutique, individualized work of Best Choice Test Prep because she has seen how Ben’s support can help students grow in confidence, access new opportunities, and change the trajectory of their lives. She also experienced his academic support personally: after meeting Ben in undergrad, they continued on to Penn together, where Ben helped her edit papers throughout graduate school as she earned a 4.0 across her 5 years of graduate studies. Back in 2017, Ben and Alexandra also developed an early shared vision for impact-driven work in their Penn course, Social Enterprise Models & Social Impact Locally & Globally. Today, Alexandra brings that same belief in individualized support, confidence-building, and meaningful outcomes to her work with students at Best Choice Test Prep.
