Ben Cattau
FOUNDER & PRIMARY TUTOR
Benjamin Cattau was born on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and raised in Larchmont, New York. Homeschooled from kindergarten through eighth grade, he was a self-directed and accelerated learner whose early independence shaped his lifelong appreciation for education. Throughout his school years, he played violin, soccer, and fenced in high school and college. He also sailed on the Long Island Sound, worked in a rock-climbing gym and a French bakery, and founded a longboard club during undergrad.
Benjamin graduated from Haverford College in 2017 with a major in Biology and a minor in Philosophy. He completed the University of Pennsylvania’s Post-Baccalaureate program while working as a tutor, lab manager, and research specialist in two Genetics labs at Penn: the Vahedi Lab (Immunology & Genetics) and the Faryabi Lab (Cancer Genetics). His research contributed to publications in Immunity and PNAS, and his experiences as both a collaborator and student showed him firsthand the transformative power of education.
After eight years of tutoring students from elementary school through graduate school, Benjamin founded Booc Co. LLC (DBA Best Choice Test Prep / BooC Tutors) in 2020 to provide holistic, personalized academic support. As a test-prep specialist, he helps students excel on exams such as the ISEE, SAT, and ACT, and he guides families through the entire college admissions process. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admissions Counseling.
Today, Benjamin lives in South Florida with his wife and their small dog. When he’s not working with students, he can often be found on the beach or paddleboarding on the intracoastal.

A native to the north of China and having lived in three other continents – Asia, Latin America, and Europe – Sivan fluently speaks Spanish, Mandarin, and a little bit of Russian.
